What do you think of when someone says "doll collector?" ?
From what you've seen and experienced, describe a typical doll collector. Please respond honestly; no answers are wrong.
If you collect dolls or you're close to someone who does, how do the stereotypes differ from reality?
I have collected dolls for 20 years, and I love the history of the antique toys and have a full library of reference books. I am able to repair dolls all the way back to 1820's and have a great business doing that, I write articles for national magazines on rare dolls. This is one of the largest hobbies world wide. I sell very large collections of antique and other doll up to the middle 1960's, electronically and at some doll shows. I ship all over the world through my electronic stores and have a great time. I am able to share my collections in locked cabinets in nursing homes, the residents love the memories of their childhoods. I also appraise the values of the dolls at very large estates and have done so for years. Some dolls sell for 50 thousand dollars and up the more rare.
There is a national association of doll collectors call ufdc.org visit the site and a magazine called Antique Doll Collector.
Doll collecting of the antiques you have to be educated on what you are buying and the women range from Doctors to everyday worker from all walks of life. I do not believe there is a typical profile a collector for Dolls and toys. It may be appreciation of the sculptor and the designers for clothing from history,
The Germans had whole villages that worked on dolls from making the leather bodies and stuffed my the entire family including the children, the young girls blew the glass eyes because there eye site was so good. They had kilns painters, dress makes. very interesting history and after the Franco Prussian war the French started making dolls they got mad at the Germans and did not want to buy their dolls anymore.
Maybe this will help you, you have to have money for this hobby, thats the only tie I know of.

This is at the crux of hoarding: “it’s a misfiring in the brain” as you described your panic attack.Before I had my hysterectomy in 2003 I was a “collector”. While I was not remotely like these hoarders I drove my husband crazy with collector dolls, old magazines and various paper collectibles. I also worked at a nostalgia store and most of our customers were compulsive collectors. Many would buy 2 videos of the same film, just to have a back-up! After my hysterectomy I completely lost my desire to collect. I still don’t know why, but figure it has to do with hormones, or chemicals within the body. As I thought back to all those years I was a slave to collecting I realized my brain was misfiring and “stuck” in an addiction pattern. Instead of alcohol or drugs I was compelled to collect. I look back now and can’t understand why I felt that way!I currently know of two women hoarders who buy new purses/shoes, etc. and keep them in the original boxes, put them in bags and stack them, filling entire rooms. Somehow their brains are misfiring “telling” them they MUST do this. As for those tv shows, I can’t watch more than five minutes – too horrifying!One more thing: for several years now material things mean nothing to me. All we need is a roof over our head, food and necessities. I have no need for expensive things. Possessions end up OWNING us and in the end are meaningless. It’s very freeing to realize this!

I'm not familiar with this exact Barbie, and don't know if there is just the one version of "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" or if different versions were made in more than one year, but I think the best way to get an answer to your question is to go to ebay and do a search in the closed auctions to see if any have sold recently. A closed auction search will show you all the ended ebay auctions within the last 30 days. Use the advanced search button to do this.
You do need to know that mint condition means absolutely pristine. Some thing with a few tears is not mint and you could get in some trouble on ebay if you were to say the item is mint when it is not.
