I also made him a little shirt, because I got tired of having to wrap everything around him twice. I took in one of the doll patterns I had to make it fit.Almost scary to see it now.I also remember it being a big deal when he finally drank 30 cc at one go-that is a whopping 2 T in American.

This is not standard, so don't feel bad. Based on the fact that it says sc9 then 2sc in next 3 stitches, I would try sc9 as 9 separate singles and then in each of the next 3 stitches, you put 2 in each, for a total of 6. Therefore, 2hdc would mean 2 of them in a single stitch.
Look carefully in the beginning and end of the whole book to see if there is any explanation of this unusual notation. If not, you are going to have to try it, see if it looks right and if not, take it out and try it another way.
Good for you for learning! And to whoever asked you if the pattern was too hard for a beginner is a dummy. Do whatever interests you; you'll learn. Just remember that it is normal for "fancy" patterns to be confusing and MANY of us resort to a little trial and error. Good luck!

I was looking for a ‘simple’ doll pattern to make a set of Harry Potter dolls for my son’s gf for Christmas (something I know she wont have!) So when I went looking for a pattern, someone from Craftster said to look for you! I did, and I am soooo very happy I did!Thanks for making my life easier and for dropping off your Toy Society toys at Walmart-not sure if that will make them happier there or not but the kids will be happy!
