How to get poofy, troll doll hair?

I want to be a cute troll girl for halloween. I was inspired by this character and I would like to get her hair...

Please do not tell me to just buy a wig because I've seen girls who can get poofy, straight hair before. Here is a girl doing a type of tutorial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0ZYT0NXzTs (please watch to at least 30 seconds)

The thing is her hair teases SO EASY! And it seems to already be poofy.

So if someone could please tell me how to get my hair to that texture before I tease it with a brush that would fantastic :)

Start with hair that is a little dirty - maybe 2 to 3 days after your last wash. You don't want greasy hair - but you don't want it clean either.

Buy a product called Dust It - made by Schwarzkopf. Add this to your dry hair. It is a powder and sprinkles through. It will give your hair a very dry and gritty feeling - and makes it very very easy to tease and style your hair.

To tease your hair well - use a really fine tooth comb. Take small sections of hair starting at the crown of your head and hold the ends up and loosely. Comb towards your scalp.

After you have teased a section - use a strong hold hair spray to keep it in place.

I actually bought Leya from Dream of Doll a few years ago, so I think I can help here. Unfortunately for that doll, her outfit is not available anywhere. It was a custom or something that they no longer have the rights to produce, so unless you can make it yourself, that particular outfit isn't available for purchase. As for her random eyes and random wig, it's just as it sounds. They randomly pick a wig and eyes to go into the doll and ship her with those. You don't have any say in the matter as to what she will come with, although I have heard of some people asking for particular colored eyes in the past. Also, she won't come with her face painted unless you tell them to, so make sure if you want her to have blush/lipstick/eyelashes and such you select that option or she will arrive with a completely blank face.

I love your choice for the hair.
I am with you on the childhood dislike of that mohawk hairdo. My most recent dolls, still being made, happen to be the size to fit a doll wig belonging to a Korean doll who resides in my house. She loaned her wig to the little bald sisters to try on and now they demand realistic hair! These dolls have molded paperclay faces and seem to require different hair than the purely cloth dolls I usually make. But bought wigs are not in the budget so I cut up garage sale wigs, purchased cheap for costuming events that arise.

I have ordered some Tibetan Lamb for wigs for the next dolls.
