Vintage Antique

Is there a market for vintage antique collector magazines from the 1950s and 1960s?
Yes. List a few on Ebay and see what happens. You should also put it in Yahoo or Google and see if you can find out a value first.

Where can I find antique or vintage look plates or other decor?
I have been looking for kitchen decor for "grandma's kitchen" look. Haven't found much. Any ideas?
depending on where you live.. i see them all the time at thrift store.. or second hand store.. they are usually pretty cheap by the set and you can mix and match sets you want... i love thrift store.. i find all sort of cool things there i can use in projects.

I looked at the pictures and the doll is from the late 40's and she is called a mama doll because of the crier. The head is not celluloid but hard plastic. Hard plastic was first made for dolls starting in 1947 on, before that they were made out of composition.
I find sometimes people do not remember the exact year they recieved the toys, you have to deal with the type of materails used.
Lift up the hair on the back of the neck and see if there are any marks, hopefully for you it will say Alexander because then she could be baby genius . The hat is a very typical 40's hat worn by children. THe shoes look original and the dress is a good copy if its not tagged. The way you tell if the dress is what we call factory, look at the way the snaps are sewn on, if they are neatly sewn top to side and bottom to side. It has a very neat look. Some dresses have the machine button holes also used in the 40's. Look for a factory tag on the inside of the dress as well and or at the back.
Several factories did make these dolls, Ideal, Horseman, American Character, Effanbee too. If I Can be of more help let me know, thanks
I went and looked in my American Character book and look to see if shes marked American Character if so she will be Baby Sue

Hello Jordi,
I actually have a few of those wonderful Arquitectura Interior books, which I treasure.
Thanks for contributing some really useful info here, especially on the Madrid scene. You're right to point out the COAM link, it's worth a separate post I think, so I will put that up.
As for the state of the Spanish vintage design market, there are a few good vintage antiques shops, but none specialise in Spanish design – mostly because it would be almost impossible to find enough good inventory at this stage to make that economically worthwile. As you explain, one has to go through lots of mud to find the pearl. But I think that as interest in these pieces -and vintage design generally- grows, there will soon be enough of a first-level sift going on to give them more visibility. That's what's happened with Fase lamps, and some Metalarte pieces.
Another issue Spanish vintage has to contend with is the fact that there never has been a continuous mass-production of pieces flooding the market – no Artek here!- and many were only batch-produced, so pieces are comparatively rarer. But all the more valuable!
Being a resident of the Westover Hills neighhborhood, I was very excited to hear we would be getting a coffeeshop. I just stopped by their new storefront (5407 Forest Hill Avenue, in the alley behind Vintage Antiques and CVS). They had their “grand opening” today. The coffee smells were great (the active roaster is featured prominently in the store next to the counter), and the taste was even better. There were at least a dozen people milling about, chatting and meeting each other's babies. And they have wi-fi!
I am very optimistic about the Blanchard's store, and encourage all Richmonders to help support our local coffeemeisters. Hope to see you there, buying beans or just drinking them.
Cheers,
Lettie

I tried to look at Zibbet, but all I get are 'internal error' messages. From a cached home page, I see Zibbet includes 'vintage'. Betcha the Zibbet folks know as much about vintage as Etsy does…having well-meaning but clueless staff is like putting out the welcome mat for resellers.
I do not understand why vintage has to be included? There are so many sites, large and small, for setting up shops to sell vintage and antiques.
How is Etsy hacks helping to hide resellers? What did I miss???
Thanks Tera,
The accessories are getting a little extravagant a dear friend of mine made me a bird cage veil on a beautiful head piece. I love it, and the vintage/antique jewelry I'm wearing should look good.
